Beyond What We Can See – The Nature of Faith-Based Living

Week 1

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7 (ESV)

Lord, open our spiritual eyes to perceive Your presence when our physical eyes see only obstacles. Help us trust Your perfect vision for our lives. Through the example of Jesus, who demonstrated perfect faith—even to the cross—we pray. Amen.

Faith begins where sight ends. Scripture defines faith as “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1 ESV). When we cannot clearly see the next step, when medical reports offer no certainty, when relationships strain under pressure, God invites us to trust His invisible hand.

The heroes of faith in Hebrews 11 moved forward without visible proof of God’s promises. Abraham left his homeland without knowing his destination. Moses led Israel toward a land he had never seen. Each stepped forward believing God’s word over their visible circumstances.

Faith is not the absence of questions, but the presence of trust despite them. It is not pretending everything is fine when it is not. It is choosing to believe that God is good and present even when His plan remains hidden. “Without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6 ESV).

Today, God calls us to see with spiritual eyes what remains invisible to natural sight.

Reflection: Identify one area of your life where you need to trust God’s perspective rather than your limited vision.
