This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:12-13)
Valentine’s day is a day to pray and give God thanks for His Steadfast Love for you. On this day dedicated to celebrating and remembering love, return to the past and remember the greatest love ever known – the Love of God through Christ and be blessed, thankful and grateful for this gift.
To celebrate Valentine’s Day with God, focus on reflecting and expressing gratitude for His Unconditional Love.
Here are a few ways that guide me:
• spending dedicated time in prayer; thanking God for the way He has shown me the blessing of His Love.
• perform random acts of kindness towards others.
• Create a family “love jar” where everyone can write down things they appreciate about each other.
•Sing praise songs at home/in car that speak to God’s Love. Mine is Because He Lives.
•and incorporate acts of love and gratitude into your daily life, using this day to deepen your personal connection with God’s Steadfast Love.
Read 1 Corinthians 13 and replace LOVE and IT with your name to see how you can love like God:
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.” 1 John 4:11-12 KJV
“I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Ezekiel 36:26
