“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” — Psalm 32:8 (NIV)
Confusion is loud. It fills your head with competing voices, endless what-ifs, and paralyzing second-guesses. But when God speaks, something remarkable happens—the noise stops.
Not because the circumstances have changed. Not because the path suddenly becomes obvious. But because His voice carries an Authority that silences every other claim on your attention.
Where there was chaos, peace settles in. Where there was uncertainty, direction emerges.
Scripture reminds us that “God is not a God of confusion but of peace” (1Corinthians 14:33). This isn’t just a theological statement—it’s a lived reality for those who learn to recognize His voice.
The Lord Communicates with us through various means—Scripture, circumstances, trusted counsel, and the quiet stirring of the Holy Spirit within our hearts. He orchestrates the events of our lives with Intentional purpose, opening doors at precisely the right moment and positioning us for His Plans.
Yet here is where many of us stumble: we attempt to navigate life’s complexities using only our limited perspective. We lean on our own understanding, forgetting that we serve a God who sees the complete picture while we glimpse only fragments.
Consider someone sensing a call to step into new territory—perhaps a ministry opportunity or a significant life change. The obstacles appear insurmountable: insufficient time, inadequate resources, conflicting responsibilities. Every logical assessment screams “impossible.” In such moments, we might cry out, “Lord, I’m trapped with no visible exit.”
But this is precisely where faith intersects with reality. God specializes in creating pathways where none existed before. He invites us to bring our honest confusion to Him, then wait with expectant hearts for His Response.
And here is His Promise to you: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Notice the intimacy of this commitment. God does not send instructions from a distance—His Loving eye remains fixed on you. He does not Abandon you to figure things out alone. He personally Guides each step when we surrender our need to control and choose instead to trust.
So what does listening deeper actually look like? It starts with a simple practice: before you make that decision, send that message, or take that leap, pause and ask, “God, what are You saying to me about this?” Then open Scripture. Wait in silence. Pay attention to the peace—or lack of it—in your spirit.
Clarity rarely shouts. It whispers to those who are willing to be still.
