Follow God’s Plan, Not Your Own

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” Isaiah 55:8-9. ESV

Why do we wonder why St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is overflowing with children who have cancer? Why do we become angry when a good friend is diagnosed with lung cancer? Then suddenly we realize it is not for us to have these answers. We remember that these belong to God.

Isaiah 55:8-9 assures us that God knows what He is doing, His thinking is different than ours when it comes to what is best for us and His Ways – and everything He Allows – are so much higher and better than ours. Even with all Light and darkness around us, we can take a pause and refocus on what really matters.

Let the “big things” become little in the hands of God. When we put things in God’s hands, we can enter His Rest, live in His Peace, receive His JOY, and He is able to settle things both inside and outside of us. Remember what Jesus did with the five loaves and two fishes-the ordinary means through which God can perform miracles.

“Understanding is the reward of faith. Therefore, seek not to understand what you may believe, but believe that you may understand.” Augustine of Hippo.
