Finding Your Corner Blessings
Last time we looked at all the blessings scattered before us, and today we are reaching upward for Gods Perspective on finding our corner blessings.
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green. – Jeremiah 17:7-8 (ESV)
When you work a 1000-piece puzzle, experienced puzzlers will tell you something important: corner pieces are treasures. There is something deeply satisfying about discovering these foundational anchors because they give you reference points for everything else that follows. This is exactly how Gods corner blessings work in our lives.
As I have been putting together my own blessing pieces, I can see some clear corner blessings that God has anchored deep in my life. My faith – that unshakeable trust that God is Good and Faithful even when I could not see the whole picture during treatment. My family – the people who surrounded me with love when I felt most vulnerable. My health restored – not just being cancer-free but experiencing Gods Healing Touch in ways that go far beyond medicine. And my devotional writing ministry – this calling to share Gods Faithfulness through words that encourage others in their own journey.
These are not just ordinary blessings scattered randomly through my life. These are corner blessings – foundational gifts that have two straight edges of certainty: God’s Unchanging Character and His Faithfulness to me. When everything else felt uncertain, these corner blessings remained solid, providing the framework for everything else.
Your corner blessings might look different from mine, but they serve the same purpose. They are the gifts that have two straight edges of certainty: they come from God’s Perfect Plan, and they reveal His Love for you. When you can identify these foundational anchors, suddenly all those other scattered blessings start to make more sense. You begin to see how they connect to these corner pieces.
Jeremiah understood corner blessings. Even when Jerusalem was falling and everything seemed hopeless, he could declare, The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your Faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23). God’s Faithfulness was Jeremiah’s corner blessing – the unmistakable, unshakeable foundation that anchored everything else.
Let us climb higher to see how this blessing fits as we discover that finding our corner blessings is not about searching harder but about recognizing what God has already anchored deep in our lives, providing the unshakeable foundation for everything beautiful He is building.
