Sorting Our Blessings by Patterns and Colors
Last time we found our corner blessings – those foundational anchors that provide reference points for everything else.
I would love to pause for a moment and ask – how is your heart responding as you think about your own blessing pieces? Are you beginning to recognize some of those corner blessings that have steadied you through different seasons? Take your time with this – God is not in a hurry, and neither should we be.
As we continue examining how God arranges His Gifts in our lives, today we are reaching upward for God’s Perspective on sorting our blessings by patterns and colors.
O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potters hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel. – Jeremiah 18:6 (ESV)
When you have found your corner pieces and you are ready to tackle the rest of your 1000-piece puzzle, experienced puzzlers do something interesting: they start sorting. Not randomly, but by patterns and colors. The green pieces that could be growth with God or seasons of spiritual maturity getting together. The warm colors gather – those amber and crimson pieces that represent the passionate and joyful moments of my life, my laughter, my love, my hopes – weaving together into something beautiful that reflects God’s Warmth and Light.
Suddenly, what looked like chaos begins to reveal organization. There was always a design – you just needed to step back and look for the patterns.
This is exactly what happens when we start sorting God’s Blessings in our lives.
As I have been working on my lighthouse puzzle, I am beginning to see how God has been organizing His Gifts all along. There are relationship blessings – not just my family, but the friend who called exactly when I needed encouragement, the nurse who went beyond her duties, the neighbor who brought meals without being asked.
Then there are provision blessings – the insurance that covered more than expected, the neighbor who volunteered to help with yard work when I was physically unable, the doctor who had a sudden cancellation for the appointment I desperately needed.
Growth blessings emerge next – the patience I never knew I had during those long treatment days, the deeper trust that developed when I had to surrender control, the peace that surprised me in the middle of uncertainty.
And spiritual blessings – prayers answered in ways I did not expect, Scripture verses that seemed written just for me, worship songs that became anthems for my healing journey.
Your blessing patterns might look completely different from mine. You see clusters of provision throughout difficult seasons. There is a pattern of opened doors just when you needed new direction. You might notice how God has consistently surrounded you with encouragers during your hardest times, or provided strength you did not know you had during crises.
When I started grouping these blessings by their patterns and colors, something beautiful emerged. God was not just randomly blessing me – He was painting a masterpiece with intentional strokes of Grace. Each blessing was carefully chosen to complement the others.
The beautiful truth is that God is an artist, and He never works randomly. Every blessing has its place in His Design. The relationship blessings work together to create God’s Support and Love. The provision blessings show His Faithfulness. The growth blessings reveal His Patient Work in shaping your character. The spiritual blessings deepen your connection with Him.
Jeremiah saw this Divine organization even in exile: The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have drawn you with loving devotion (Jeremiah 31:3 ESV).
Even when God’s people were scattered and everything seemed broken, there was still a pattern – an Everlasting Love that organized every experience, every hardship, every restoration into a Coherent Plan.
When you begin to sort your blessings by their patterns and colors, you start to see God’s Intentional Design. The difficult seasons that developed resilience. The unexpected opportunities that led to deeper purpose. The relationships that provided exactly what you needed when you needed it. The provisions that came in perfect Timing.
Like my lighthouse emerging from organized puzzle pieces, your life is revealing something magnificent as God’s Light illuminates the patterns He has been weaving all along.
Let us climb higher to see how this blessing fits as we discover that what once looked like scattered randomness is God’s Masterful Artistry, each blessing carefully chosen and perfectly placed to reveal His Design for your life.
